How to Use the WebPortal, Like a User Doku: Part3 OSDWP

This Post in the Blogpost series is like a Doku for the Users they have to Use the Tool.

In the Right corner you can see wich user is loged on the OSD Webportal website.

On the Main Site you have two options; New Device and Edit Device

1. select New Device

– New Devices is to Create A new Device in ConfigMgr, you need a Device Name and MAC Address, in addition you have to select a Location and a Operating System.

– With the Button Create in the Background ist creating a DDR File and put it in to the Inbox of the Site Server, after the Creating process the Object is stored in the “All Systems” Collection in SCCM.

– Important: If you have any Collections nesting with the limiting to Collection down the Location or Operating System Collections, you have to wait and select the incremental update in each nested collection.

– Note: I have for this szenario a seperate Collection Strucktur for Both, Location and Operating system. I will show you the Context over all in a seperat Blogpost “How to Use the Location and Operating System dropdown”.

2. Edite Device

– Here you can see all your Devices that are listed in the “All System” Device Collection, you can Show some on one Site, sorted by all fore column or search by Name or MAC.

– If you found your Device you have three options Edit, Delete or Clear PXE

Edit:

– On the Edit you can select again the Location and Operating System, with Save the Device are ready to start OS-Deployment, but you have also to check the “Clear PXE” Link 😉

2. Delete:
Your Device is Deleted from the SCCM Database

3. Clear PXE
The PXE Flag on a Device would be reseted
